Fyrkantig Fågel (2023)

2D Interactive Game

Project Description

Fyrkantig Fågel is a 2D interactive game developed as an exploration of interactive music and sound implementation within a real-time game environment. The project centers on simple mechanics and a restrained visual language, serving as a framework for testing how music and sound effects respond to player input and gameplay states.

Designed and developed as a solo project, the game integrates design, programming, visuals, and audio as a single workflow. Particular emphasis was placed on learning new tools and implementation practices, using the project as a hands-on investigation into interactive audio integration. Music and sound effects were authored specifically for the game and implemented to respond dynamically to in-game events, allowing audio behavior to be shaped directly by player action.

Fyrkantig Fågel was developed as part of an academic research context, with the primary goal of gaining practical experience implementing interactive audio using established middleware and real-time game engines. The project reflects a process-driven approach to learning how sound functions within interactive structures rather than as a fixed linear element.

The game was built in Unity, with all music and sound effects implemented using Audiokinetic’s Wwise middleware. Interactive audio behaviors were configured to respond to gameplay events and system states, enabling adaptive music and sound effects within a real-time interactive framework.
